Clifford S. Walzer, DMD

Dr. Walzer grew up in Great Neck, New York, and attended college at the State University of New York at Albany where he graduated with a B.A. in biology. He attended dental school at Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He then completed a one year internship back in New York at the Albany Medical Center Hospital and upon graduating practiced general dentistry for the next two years. His interest centered around surgery and in 1980 he was accepted into the residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. This included rotations through their departments of Anesthesia, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery as well as through Maryland Shock Trauma. Upon completing his surgical training he moved to Annapolis and started his private practice.
Dr. Walzer is a member of many professional organizations. He became Board Certified by the America Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989. Dr. Walzer also achieved Diplomate status in the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology. He is a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the Academy of Osseointegration and the American Association of Cosmetic Surgery. He has served as a past president of the Anne Arundel County Dental Society, and as the Chief of Service of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Anne Arundel Dental Medical Center as well as the former North Arundel Hospital.
His special interests have centered around the treatment of patients with dental implants, the surgical correction of jaw and facial growth abnormalities, pathology and reconstructive bone grafting and the removal of wisdom teeth. He and Dr. Sullivan founded the Chesapeake Dental Implant Study Club in 1992 which sponsors continuing education seminars for the professional community. Volunteerism has always been a part of Dr. Walzer’s life. Over the years he has volunteered his surgical skills to help those in need on missions to Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. Locally he also donates his time to treat patients at the Stanton Center Dental Outreach Clinic developed through the efforts of his partner, Dr. Sullivan, in conjunction with the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Dr. Walzer has always found it important to integrate state-of-the-art technology and techniques into the practice. He especially enjoys utilizing computer technology for the three-dimensional analysis and treatment planning for dental implants and corrective jaw surgery. He participates in many continuing education programs each year to stay on top of the latest trends and techniques. He recently traveled to Santiago, Chile where he participated in an educational program on Surgically Assisted Bone Remodeling Techniques and operated on patients at the Clinica Universidad de los Andes.
Dr. Walzer has a passion for the outdoors which he shares with his wife and son. He enjoys hiking in the mountains or combing the beaches when they travel together. In the colder weather he enjoys skiing with his son and waterfowl hunting with his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. In warmer weather he enjoys relaxing on his boat, riding his Harley, and racing his sports cars.
Dr. Walzer is passionate about the practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and especially enjoys interacting with and helping the people he meets on a daily basis. He feels proud to be a founding partner of this outstanding practice with partners who are all dedicated to delivering the best of care to our patients.
