Dr. Clifford S. Walzer is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Annapolis, Maryland, and a founding partner of Oral Surgery Specialists. He provides advanced surgical care for dental implants, wisdom teeth, jaw and facial abnormalities, oral pathology, bone reconstruction, and other conditions affecting the mouth, teeth, and facial structures.
Education and Surgical Training
Dr. Walzer grew up in Great Neck, New York. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany, now known as the University at Albany.
He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the former Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis. The school operated from 1866 until 1991 and is now represented through Washington University’s historical archives.
After dental school, Dr. Walzer completed a one-year internship at Albany Medical Center in New York. He then practiced general dentistry for two years before pursuing his interest in surgery.
In 1980, Dr. Walzer entered an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. His hospital-based training included rotations in anesthesia, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, and trauma care through the University of Maryland’s R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
After completing his surgical training, Dr. Walzer moved to Annapolis and established his private oral surgery practice.
Board Certification and Professional Affiliations
Dr. Walzer became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989. He has also achieved Diplomate status through the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

Professional Leadership and Community Service
Dr. Walzer is a past president of the Anne Arundel County Dental Society. He also previously served as Chief of Service for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center, now Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center, and at the former North Arundel Hospital, now University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Dr. Walzer and Dr. Neil Sullivan founded the Chesapeake Implant Study Club in 1993. The organization sponsors continuing education seminars featuring nationally recognized clinicians and advances in oral implantology.
Volunteer service has remained an important part of Dr. Walzer’s career. He has contributed his surgical skills during missions to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama. Locally, he has donated his time to care for patients through the Stanton Center Dental Outreach Clinic.

Advanced Technology and Continuing Education
Dr. Walzer believes in integrating advanced technology and surgical techniques into patient care. He has a particular interest in using computer-guided three-dimensional analysis and treatment planning for dental implant surgery and corrective jaw surgery.
He participates in continuing education programs throughout the year to remain current with evolving surgical technology and treatment techniques. His advanced education has included training in surgically assisted bone-remodeling techniques at the Clínica Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, Chile.
Outside the Office
Dr. Walzer shares a passion for the outdoors with his wife and son. He enjoys hiking in the mountains, exploring beaches while traveling, skiing, and waterfowl hunting with his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. During warmer weather, he enjoys spending time on his boat, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and racing his Porsche.
